The purpose of Know Your Candidate is to make employment screening simple. Simple for our customers so they save time and hire the most suitable employee. Simple for the candidate so they feel comfortable with the screening process and simple for our employees so they deliver great service.

Our Story

Back in 2009 the employment screening market wasn't friendly to SME's. Lengthy set-up procedures, fixed term contracts with minimum spend obligations and having to buy a package of checks just to get the single background check required. All unnecessary hurdles and really unhelpful if you're a small business screening a handful of employees each year or only require a single background check to complement the checks you've already completed in-house.

We set out to build an employment screening service that is friendly to SME's. A service which is easy to use, fast and reliable regardless of whether you're screening just a few candidates or a few hundred. Fixed term contracts with minimum spend obligations are replaced with true pay-as-you-go flexibility where you can order a whole package of checks or just a single component. We keep things simple by placing as much information online as possible, our customer testimonials, pricing and useful resources are just a click away.

Over seven years later we're going from strength to strength with over 1300 customers across financial services, technology, law, facilities management, transport, manufacturing and business service sectors. Furthermore, it turns out that it's not just small businesses that appreciate our straightforward approach - several larger businesses with 2000+ employees are happy KYC customers.

Cyber Essentials

Cyber Essentials is a government-backed cyber security certification scheme that sets out a good baseline of cyber security. The scheme addresses five key controls that, when implemented correctly, can prevent around 80% of cyber-attacks. Know Your Candidate achieved the Cyber Essentials accreditation in December 2016.

The Federation of Small Businesses

Know Your Candidate was awarded E-Commerce Business of the Year by the Federation of Small Businesses in its inaugural Greater Manchester and North Cheshire business awards 2016.

Business Fraud Prevention Partnership

The Business Fraud Prevention Partnership is a membership organisation which helps businesses to reduce the risk of fraud. The BFPP provide a comprehensive training program to increase employee awareness and a set of policies to reduce and mitigate fraud risk.
