Know Your Candidate, the leading employment screening provider to UK SMEs announces they are now certified to the HM Government Cyber Essentials Scheme for information security.
The Cyber Essentials Scheme was developed by the government, certification bodies and I.T. industry experts to help UK businesses protect themselves from cybercrime. The scheme directly aids the primary objective of the UK Government’s National Cyber Security Strategy – to make the UK a safer place to conduct business online. Cyber Essentials focuses on the technical controls an organisation needs to have in place to defend against the most common forms of cyber-attack emanating from the Internet using widely accessible tools which require little skill from attackers – hacking and phishing for example. The five technical controls are: boundary firewalls and Internet gateways, secure configuration, access control, malware protection and patch management.
Barry Hetherington, Director of Know Your Candidate commented, “We take information security extremely seriously. It is our responsibility to ensure that both our own and our customers’ data is secure as possible. While we already had extensive security policies and procedures in place we were keen to measure ourselves against a recognised external framework. Working with IT security experts Perspective Risk we tested both our internal network and the servers our website is hosted on. Achieving the Cyber Essentials accreditation provides additional peace of mind to current and prospective customers that information security is at the heart of everything Know Your Candidate does.”
