1. Can I use the service for candidates of any nationality?

Only current, biometric United Kingdom and Irish passports and Irish Identity Cards are eligible for a digital Right to Work Check.

2. What is GPG45 and which identity profile does the service conform to?

GPG45 is the HM Government’s good practice guide on how to prove and verify an individual's identity. The solution Know Your Candidate provides meets the M1A profile, verifying the identity to a medium level of confidence using one piece of evidence. You can download GPG45 from this page on the HM Government website.

3. Do I need to perform any further checks once the Right to Work Check is complete?

Yes. Employers must confirm that the image of the person in the report is a true likeness of the candidate who turns up for work. This can be face to face or via a video call. A statutory excuse will not be obtained where it is reasonably apparent that the prospective employee is not the individual linked to this identity.
